Are you trying to be Super Mom? Why?

We've all heard the term Super Mom.  I don't even want to post a picture of her, because she's just plain annoying.  Whoever invented this term, I'd like to personally pop them in the nose.  I used to think I could be a super mom and even kinda wanted to be, but quite frankly, I'm just tired!  And who cares?

I think I've had five piles of laundry sitting on the floor for the past 3 days and I haven't made a single respectable dinner since I can remember when.  But we're not all dying of malnutrition and we seem to be fully clothed and look presentable.  Kids are happy.  My husband is in hog heaven when I'm happy, so if everything else is in shambles, but we're happy, then who cares.

I Googled (the joke in our house right now is "Why don't you Google It?", seeing as you can Google just about anything) looking for Super Dad.  Yes, there were pictures that came up and stuff to do FOR dad, but Super Mom was more on how you can be all you can be, do it all and save the planet just because you are able to get it all done because that's what Super Mom's do.  Um,  OK.

I'd rather have the Super Dad connotation.  Where Dad just is Super Dad because we want to cherish him and his accomplishments.

Why is Super Mom connotation more of a I worked 8-10 hours a day, came home did this and that and ended the day with a perfectly clean house.  Why are there pictures of Super Mom working, doing laundry, cooking, ect.  When Super Dad gets pictures of how to make him Super Dad cake and Super Dad presents just because he's dad?

Let's change the  Super Mom connotation to just because you're mom you are Super Mom!  How about that?

I think if my kids aren't trying to damage themselves in anyway, they have full bellies, we'll go out and make a gigantic snowman in our 3 feet of snow piled up on our lawn.  One super mom task at a time.  Maybe I'll make a Super Mom Snowman!  I'll find her a cape.

How about being Super Mom, just for being Mom.
Try to be that mom today.  Not super duty mom.  Just Mom.  That seems pretty super to me!
